It all started as a play on a name. Team Encourage. That was the name of the team I had picked when I was just starting out. Honestly, I hadn’t thought a lot about actually having my own team at that point. Since our larger team name was Team Courage, I figured the play on words fit for the season. Fast forward to a brainstorming session I had, as I started to dream and envision a team of my own. I asked my fellow coaches to help in choosing a name for my team.
Team F.I.T. (Finding Inspiration Together) Not bad. Catchy. More brainstorming. While the name was solid, it just didn’t embody my vision fully. Another round of brainstorming, thinking; the creative juices fueled by enthusiasm of something bigger finally resulted in…
The ROCK!
Let me take you back to where it all began. I remember when I first started my business I did a team call with my coach before I really had any kind of success. She wanted me to share what I was doing. I mean, I’m pretty awesome (ego brag), I felt like I was pretty much doing it all…but going nowhere (reality check).
I told her a story on the call about my current boss asking me what the heck I was doing to be so successful. I worked at a wine tasting room in California and I always had top sales, sold the most clubs, and walked out with a pocket full of tips, when tips weren’t required or asked for. He caught me off guard and I just said, “I don’t really know, I just believe in our product.” As I started to walk away, I stopped dead in my tracks. I knew that wasn’t WHY I was successful.
I went back to his office door and made a bold declaration. “No, that is not the reason I am successful. As I walk to work everyday, I pray. I ask for God to bless my day, A Taste of Monterey, and to bless me with success. Everyday, without fail, I walk out with some kind of success for the day.” He got a big smile on his face and said, “Well, praise God.” I have no idea if he was a man of faith, but it didn’t matter.
I started my current Beachbody business with the same attitude of enthusiasm and confidence.
A Little More Backstory…
A rock symbolizes strength to me. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you’ll know our faith is very important to us. In scripture, it talks about David killing a giant with a simple rock. The team name “The Rock” has a 2-fold meaning. Not only have I built a team on a rock foundation, but I also help people create bodies with a solid foundation for better health.
Scripture is and always will be a cornerstone of my WHY. Here are some of my favorite scriptures I keep close as daily reminders:
- Ezekiel 26:14 And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
- Job 39:28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
- Exodus 33:21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
So, what’s in a name? I like our team’s name. It’s a constant reminder of who I am in this business and where my foundation lies. I am really proud of this team of coaches. You are changing the lives of so many people each day, just by simply being you!
ROCK on!
xoxo, Rebekah
