You don’t have to be THE best but you should always be YOUR best. I will fully admit that not everything I do is done with all my heart or with the intent of giving my best. I will use cleaning as an example as it is the first thing that comes to mind. What can I say, cleaning just isn’t my passion and I find little fulfillment in getting it done when minutes later one of my little ones will pee on the toilet seat, puke on the rug, or draw on the couch.
There are certain benefits and grace that come with doing ALL THINGS with all of your might. I hope that in writing this that even I learn a little something about who I am and how passionately I work and for WHOM I am really working.
In my profession, I help people build healthier bodies and I also help people build prosperous businesses. In my short two and a half years of being an entrepreneur, I have learned a lot about people and what motivates them. I have also learned a lot about what people allow to get in their heads, pull them down, hold them back, and keep them in bondage. Doing everything with all your might comes far easier when you are in the right mindset. This takes practice and determination. I challenge you to work with all your might to add a positive twist to whatever roadblocks come before you today.
There is a saying that Tony Horton made popular that says:
“Do your best and forget the rest.”
My kids know this saying well! There is a certain level of pride that comes when you know you have given your best- when you know you have worked with all your might to make something happen. I often feel that way at the end of each month when I am matching up my end of productivity against the goals I set.
Sometimes I nail it, sometimes I don’t. I can easily look back and track my success based on how much heart I REALLY gave. When you make a point to do all things with all your soul and all your might, you give your best. You don’t give up. You stay true to the way you should go and you do it for the right reasons.
When everything you do is for a greater cause outside of yourself, you find more joy and reward in the process.
If you want to make an impact on this world then you have to start living outside of yourself. Living selflessly just may be you biggest guarantee to a life of health, wealth and happiness. So what will you do with all your might this week? Will it be that lame task your boss asked you to do even though you are way over qualified? Will it be mopping the floors? Will it be going the extra mile for your customer or patient? Your simple act of selflessness can change someone’s life.
Whatever you do this week, do it with all of your might!
