But seriously! I just sat down to do something and poof here I am writing a blog post- that is not what I came here for. Hopefully this squirrel chase leads to something wholesome and meaningful by the end- or at least gives you a chuckle.
Often people make mention of how together I am. Huh?!
I am the master of flying by the seat of my pants. I truly have no idea how I could have possibly made it where I am today in my business except for the grace and mercy of God and that is the no joke truth! I am a mom of 4. They are 7 years, 5 years, 3 years (AGHHHH) and 10 months. OMGoodness! There is not a moment of my day when someone does not need me to do something for them. My most beautiful moments of peace are about 9:30 at night when all is quiet, I get to drink my tea HOT and I work, read, spend time with my husband or maybe even hit the bed early. It is glorious.
But seriously, how much solid work can one achieve that late at night after caring for 4 small children? So I ask you, how else but divine intervention could I build a booming business?
I attended a webinar today called “3 Things Successful Entrepreneurs Do” by the Advice Chicks. One of the topics that caught my attention was that the 8 hour work day was a farce. We don’t need it.
We have a window of about 60 -90 minutes of attention span to get things done with laser focus. Whoa! Back up! 60- 90 minutes? I can’t remember the last time I had 10 minutes of laser focus on anything. I know my mamas know exactly what I mean.
So help me out.
I have taken classes, attended seminars, paid good money for training and have even traveled to find the secret to time management and maximizing my success. All of it was great info. I think it will be incredibly useful when my kids start wiping their own butts and stop running around the house in their underwear.
I try to fit into the time management mold and I keep hitting walls. I have lists, I have calendars, I outsource, and I use Outlook (the magical tool for keeping your life together).
But how do you people find time to manage the list, calendars and Outlook when someone just ripped his poo diaper off right at the same moment another had a bloody nose? I AM NOT EXAGERATING!
I love being a mom. I really do. Don’t be surprised if a 5th baby shows up someday (I am not in a hurry). I also love owning and running a business. I love the rush of getting it all done at the end of the day and no one is dead. Now that is success!
Okay, no joke- It is 9:45 at night and I just had to pause writing due to the 3 year old crying – he peed the bed. See! Not even peace at 9:30 at night as mentioned before. I just smile because I know what you are thinking – these days will soon be gone and I will miss them and though I know it is true I would still like to find the solution to this thing called balance. I just don’t believe it exist when so many little ones are in the mix. Especially if they are home with you all day as with my youngest two!
It’s life. We learn, we grow, we fail, and we fail again and again until finally sprouts of success pop up and are watered and nurtured by yet more opportunities to fail. I love it all. I really am so grateful.

WAHM = Work At Home Mom
Seat of her pants is the understatement of the century. Half the time the kids have NO PANTS!
Love you, Babe!
