I had my 3rd child in November of 2010. Knowing that I would not be able to easily get to the gym with 3 small children, I started thinking of how I would get back into shape long before David was born. I signed up for a 10K along with my husband and my 14 year old niece. It was a good push, but I knew a plan to just run everyday would not be sufficient. I had done home video programs in the past but never could stick to it. It was the same old workout day after day. I knew I had no choice this time. I looked into P90X and decided that it was too difficult to start right after a baby. I asked my Beachbody coach, Sommer Tucker for some direction and she suggested Chalean Extreme. I purchased the video series knowing that if I was going to pay for a fitness program, I was GOING to COMMIT! I did, and it was the best decision I could have made. I not only had the fitness program guide to keep me on track, but I also had Sommer to support me weekly if not daily. Her encouragement was key!
I became so strong and fit by the end of the 90 day program. I was hooked. I knew I was also ready for P90X. So in July of 2011 my husband and I took on this well publicized program. I thought I was fit after the Chalean Extreme! P90X took what I had already accomplished and multiplied it! My commitment to keep building on what I had already developed paid off! Over all I have lost 15 pounds! I put on well over 8 pounds of lean mass (muscle baby! –That’s what’s burning all that fat!). I regret now that I did not measure my inches from start to finish. But I can tell you I went down 3 pant sizes and even my small jeans have a little wiggle room, so there are your inches. Lesson learned though- always measure before and after!
The pictures really say it all! I am very proud of my accomplishment! I may not have been as out of shape or as overweight as some, but I had plenty of excuses to use if I really wanted to get out of a workout. I decided on a program. The rest was simple. I had a calendar to tell me which of the 12 workouts to do on what days. I had a personal trainer in my home gym everyday… they were just waiting on me to push play! I had the right mindset. I committed and I did not back down from that commitment. I made sure I was giving my body proper nutrition. Beachbody had that as well with this tasty little drink called Shakeology. My husband and I (and sometimes the kids) have it daily. It gives us energy, boost our metabolism, keeps us regular, kicks our immune system in gear, and we know we are getting nutrition we would not normally get on a daily basis. As if that isn’t enough, Shakeology helps with weight loss! Fitness and nutrition really go hand in hand. If you have them both, they work together to get your body functioning properly.
