In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I thought it appropriate to put my thoughts down regarding Gratitude. Gratitude has to be one of the greatest avenues for success. When you are truly grateful for what you have and the people who surround you, you feel little need to be worried about what you don’t have.
Perspective
Recently I had a fellow coach reach out to me with fears and struggles in her business and her team. She began to name off all the things that were seemingly hopeless. As we talked and really began to break down what was really happening it became clear that so much of the mess was out of her control. In truth, she had so many more blessings -including a recent payday that was the highest it had been ever and clients hitting new fitness goals that put them in the healthiest place they had been in years.
It is in our human nature to see all of our flaws and mistakes starring us down. This is not what God sees in us though. When we stop to see ourselves as our Creator sees us, we can be filled with peace and calm. When we have a clear perspective on our life it is easier to have gratitude because in all truthfulness, if you are reading this, you are probably among the wealthiest, most successful and healthiest in the world. If you have running water, a job, a roof over your head- oh and that iPhone you are holding- you are seriously in the top 5-10% of the world population.
Taking Time To Count
I am personally taking a moment each day for gratitude. I can easily come up with a list of all the things that can and will go wrong in my day. I can just as easily make a list of all of the incredible blessings. Most people would gladly take your place on any given day. Yeah, your life is THAT GOOD! You may have a mess from time to time but you have some of the best resources in the world to clean up those messes. You have opportunities that most of the world does not.
Be gracious
Be generous
Be kind
Be grateful
Be the change
Gratitude starts with the simple decision to be grateful. It is a mindset that some will have to work at a little harder than others. But the rewards are worth it. Finding contentment where you are without sacrificing your drive to be a better person can be life changing.
Happy Thanksgiving!
