It’s funny how inspiration strikes. As many of you may know, I am a mom of 4. My children range from 14 months to 7 years. In addition to my duties as a wife and mother, I am the CEO and founder of Rebekah Bain Fitness. I have built this business from absolute zero and I have done it over the last 3 years through pregnancies, deliveries, deployments, travel, the death of my father, family drama, 2 moves and about a million other little things that life has a way of throwing at me (and you too I bet). There are a few little things I have learned along the way and I hope they will make you smile and give you peace about building your dream, your business, contributing to your family and doing it all while being there for your husband and your children.
I was having a brief conversation with my friend and fellow entrepreneur Abbie Unger of Flight Attendant Career Connection through Facebook message (because that is how the busy mom/business owner rolls) and she mentioned how she felt like she was barely holding on and that running a business was no joke.
She said “I keep trying to give myself a break for the summer, but it’s hard.”
Abbie had no idea that she was speaking right to my heart at that very moment and I sent her a voice message that was as much to her as it was to me… and to you.
My words to her were
“Every time I feel like I just can’t run a business and a family I remind myself that the first thing God has called me to is be a wife and mother. He has blessed you with this business. He has given me this business and I KNOW He has a purpose. There is no way he has brought me this far and it not be where I belong. In those moments when I need that extra break, I pray for it and He is always faithful to provide and get me through whatever it is that is weighing me down. I know he will do the same thing for you.”
BE ENCOURAGED! Here’s my letter to you:
Dear Entrepreneur Mama Hanging On By A Thread,
Continue to be an awesome wife and mom and God will help you fill in the gaps where you can’t take care of business.
- Your family comes first. There is nothing that is work related that can’t wait and consuming your day with work while neglecting the people who matter most will leave you empty.
- Some people were made to be a mom and that is there life calling. It is beautiful and to be admired and respected. But you were made for all that and more. Never feel guilty about that.
- Some days you just aren’t going to accomplish all that you wanted- uh, scratch that- you will NEVER accomplish all that you wanted. Can I get an AMEN?
- You absolutely are an amazing mom and you will get better at balance. Just keep trying and remind yourself daily what your priorities are.
- You can’t be everything to everyone. It’s okay to tell people no.
And my most favorite piece of advice? The cream of the crop, the BONUS tip, the little nugget that is going to make your heart leap for joy…
- DELEGATE and OUTSOURCE! It is a must. Get rid of the junk that sucks your time and does nothing to contribute to your growth! Who else just thought of the laundry pile on your couch?
I am so glad you stopped by to read and I am even more excited that you read all the way through to the end. You really are doing amazing things. Don’t be discouraged! Don’t give up! Be kind to yourself. You have one of the hardest jobs in the world and you are running a business on top of that. You are amazing and you are taking full advantage of the gifts God has given you. Be incredibly proud of that! I know I am proud of you!
Love, Rebekah
