Back in July of 2010 I met my coach and friend Sommer Tucker. Our chat was brief but we did discover our common interest in fitness. I was pregnant with my 3rd at the time and was interested in starting a program with Sommer after the baby was born. Like many, I feared the struggles I would inevitably face with getting back in shape and healthy again post baby. Not only did I already have a 2 and 3 year old to care for, but I would have a brand new baby who would need me for everything! It became more and more clear that I would not be making it to a gym. Not on a regular basis at least.
I thought of all the things that come into play when you are packing 3 kids in the car for an hour gym visit. And let’s face it, sometimes that visit is cut to 30 minutes or less if one child isn’t happy. And then what happens if someone gets sick?
David entered the world in November 2010 and as the weeks passed, I continued to think of Sommer and how she could help me. She told me about Chalean Extreme and encouraged me to hold off on P90X. It was an intense and long program for a new mom. I discussed the option with my husband. I am fairly frugal and I battled with the idea of paying $90 for home fitness. What if I didn’t like it? What if it was boring? What if it didn’t work? That is a lot of money to spend to let some disc sit on a shelf and collect dust.
I finally decided that I would commit NO MATTER WHAT for the full 90 days of the program. I broke it down to $30 a month that I would be spending on a gym membership anyway except I was pretty much guaranteed a workout as scheduled at home- not so much with a 35 min drive to the gym.
As planned, I completed the program and got awesome results. I lost 10.5% body fat and 8 lbs. I also found a chart to calculate muscle gained and found I had put on 7 lbs of muscle! By the end of my 90 days I could do 7 unassisted pull-ups. I was SOLD and addicted to home fitness. My husband and I added Shakeology to our nutrition and moved on to P90X- the program everyone wants to conquer- and I did!
By July of 2011, I was 100% sold on the Beachbody Products. I started coaching for the discount but that only lasted a couple of months before I worked up the courage to share my success with others. I knew I was not the only mom out there who needed a solution to a healthier lifestyle. I also knew that God had blessed me with a gift and that I needed to love and encourage others to be and do greater things. Even with that knowledge, I had no idea where it would truly lead me and the lives I would really end up impacting. I gave my business to God and asked Him to use me as He willed and I have seen nothing but blessings since that day.
At the time I am writing this, it has been about 2 and a half years since I began coaching. I have set many big goals along the way and I have checked off many of them. Part of my reasoning for wanting to succeed and do well is for my children. It is important to my husband and me that they attend Catholic schools. We just had our 4th in May 2013 and you can imagine how costly that can be. My husband and I were both willing to sacrifice in order to provide the best education for our kids, but it was my hope that with this opportunity with Beachbody, I could ease the burden. I am happy to say that we have done that!
As one achieves goals, new ones are always being born. Now that I have seen the power of this business and how I can make an impact on my family, I have huge visions of helping some of my own family members and close friends do the same. There is nothing special about me or what I do. I am a French major! The big separation between what we are as coaches and the foundation we rest on with Beachbody is that we really do care about others. We have one solid vision to serve others. And if that vision is ever turned to be self-serving, we fail!
I am moved daily by the post, messages, text and calls from people who have done a complete 180 simply because someone believed in them and encouraged them to be better. If you struggle with your health and fitness, find someone you can connect with. It may not be me. But there is someone out there who can and will give you the encouragement you need. The same is true for your financial health. You were meant to be great. You weren’t meant to struggle and live paycheck to paycheck. Figure out what you are good at and become great. All you really need is the desire and the drive to never give up!
