Most of us, at some point in our lives, set goals to lose weight and/or get healthier. The tool we most often use to measure our success is the scale. How many of you have woken up in the morning after a week of so of great eating and working out and you think to yourself… “Man! I feel great! I feel lighter and my pants feel like they have a little more room.” Then you head over to the mirror with your shoulders held back and your head held high and you nod in approval at the sexy beast looking back at you in the mirror. You snap photos in your mind and tell yourself you’re on fiyaaa! 🙂
To confirm what you are seeing in the mirror, you step on the scale and you are positive your kids have been messing with it because it says you only lost 1 pound! How can this be!?
BAGELS & FRAPPACCINOS
It’s at this point you realize that all of your hard work was for nothing and you deserve a bagel with cream cheese and a frappuccino. Wait… has that only happened to me? *shrugs and laughs nervously*
Taking pictures of yourself is powerful! There are so many factors that can go into weight fluctuation… especially for women! Can I get an amen? Ever feel heavier at certain times of the month. Yep, that’s real! Photos, when taken in the same place with the same clothes and same light can tell a very powerful story! Thank God for the selfie 😉
FLASHBACKS
I remember when I did my first program. It was 7 years ago, I had just had my 3rd baby. I was about to take on a 90 day program and because I had invested $90 into the program. I wanted to be sure I did everything exactly as it said. So I pulled out the guide book and followed the steps. I took measurements, weighed, and though I dreaded it… I took photos too.
Man was I so glad I did!
Every 30 days I would take new photos. Though I could feel some changes, when I looked in the mirror I wasn’t sure. And the scale wasn’t moving much at all! Not only was I doing a program that had me lifting heavy weights (hello muscle weight) but I was also still breastfeeding. Of course the numbers on the scale weren’t a reflection of all that was happening with my body.
I took photos until I had 4 sets of photos to line up side-by-side and truly see all that was happening. It was fabulous and it helped me not to be so bummed when the scale didn’t say what I wanted it to.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
You know your body! When you wake up and feel amazing… don’t let the scale take that away from you!
I’d love to hear what program you are doing and how your progress is coming. If you didn’t take photos yet… it is NEVER too late! Do it today! You will thank me!
If you don’t have a plan and you would like some help… well then I’m your girl!
