As much as I love to take about fitness and nutrition, there comes a point in a women’s life when she knows what she wants and she goes out and gets it. After 25 years on this earth, O.K., 29, I finally stepped up my game and started to be a little snobbish about what beauty supplies I use.
My Arsenal of Beauty Products
When I was younger and not as wise, I would skimp on what I bought for myself. We had less money and I really didn’t care about these things. Recently, I saw a blog about “products I couldn’t live without” and it made me think, what could I not ‘live without’? Now truth be told, if I were going to be stranded on a desert island, I’d probably take a Gerber, Duct Tape, sunscreen, matches and my phone. This isn’t that type of blog.
The first miracle product that I LOVE is Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller. I’m telling you, after many sleepless nights, the bags that start to form under my eyes could carry all of my groceries! I just use this magic little roller (witch I get in the tinted formula) on my circles and the color is enough to camouflage the darkness and the caffeine reduces the puffiness- magic.
The next tool in my arsenal is my Paul Mitchel hair straightener. I’m sure some of you have heard me talk about this one. It is a bit pricier than anything else I’ll post about, but worth its weight in gold. I will say I was lured into buying a different one of those mall kiosks. You know, you walk by and they promise you that you will leave their chair looking like a Vidal Sassoon commercial? Well, I did. And I bought it. But it couldn’t compare to the Paul Mitchel! Throw away all your other hair tools, this one does it all. Check out this tutorial that helped me!
Something else that I use in my hair is Wen Styling Cream. This hair cream is a probably around the price you’d pay for salon quality products, and also, totally worth the splurge. It’s a ‘5-in-1 formula, this one product takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner. It cleanses hair thoroughly without lathering or harsh ingredients.’ I never really paid attention to my shampoo and conditioner before, but after a friend recommended this, I really noticed a difference in my hair. I also highlight my hair, so I need to make sure I moisturize it properly so it doesn’t get fried!
Get yo sunblock on girls! Something else that I use regularly is a face cream with SPF. I am really not loyal to one specific brand, because it’s really the SPF that I am looking for and not all the fluff. I know, I live in sunny Florida, but regardless of where I have lived, I have always used SPF on my face. I would like to avoid wrinkles, but clearly I am really trying to avoid skin cancer.
Several creams that I have tried and liked are:
Mary Kay TimeWise® Day Solution Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35
Cetaphil Moisturizer with SPF 15
Derm Exclusive®Age Defense Moisturizer SPF 24
Lastly, my #5! Now, this gem is fairly new to me. A friend invited me to an online party for Younique makeup. I had never heard of it before and really had no interest in buying anything, but I trust this friend. So when she said buy, I said ‘Yes Ma’am!’ Boy- was she right! This mascara is beyond awesome. It’s a 3 step process, but the end result looks like fake lashes- but much easier and no glue. First, you put on a coat of your normal mascara. Then you put on a coat of the transplanting gel. This creates a sticky surface for the fibers to stick to. OH YES – the FIBERS! They are natural green tea fibers, so you don’t have to worry about something synthetic getting into your eye. Check out this video on how they work!

One of my top 5 is Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Plus humidity resistant spray mousse. I also really like All-Nutrient shampoo because it has color in it too. So you can keep your color longer by having it added to your shampoo everyday!! I want to win!!! Hahaha!! ❤
